Faith for the New Year

As we prepare to enter the New Year, our focus on being faithful with the gospel is more important than ever. I was recently chatting with my dad about the impact CBU has had over the decades since our first conference in 1974. Thousands have been touched, but it has been for a purpose. Reflecting on the words of Jesus in Matthew 28 and Acts 1, this is what he said:

At the end of Matthew, Jesus told his followers to go into all the world and make disciples. But in Acts 1, when he told them that they would be his witnesses all over the world, he told them to wait in Jerusalem. And so the pattern Jesus gave was to wait, and then go. The charismatic movement was about waiting on God for the power of the Holy Spirit, but the reason God gives the Holy Spirit, according to Jesus, is to empower us to be a witness. As the body of Christ, we have been empowered. And now it’s time to go. It’s time to do what Jesus said and go into all the world and preach the gospel and make disciples. That’s why Jesus sent the Spirit, to empower us for witness. Jim Jackson

That’s what CBU has been about since its inception: waiting on God and going with the gospel; being filled with the Holy Spirit and being faithful with the holy message. This has marked our past – starting with conferences in the 1970’s and missions in the 1990’s – and it will mark our future.

Looking to 2017, we have some amazing opportunities coming up: continued work with pastors in Ukraine and leaders in Europe, exploring opportunities in Denmark, exciting outreaches in Scotland, and training campus ministers from across Europe. We are working on key ministry efforts in the coming year that will ultimately impact thousands of lives. Everywhere we go, everything we do – this is all an extension of our CBU Global Partners. It is your faithful partnership with us that enables this to happen.
